It’s all about the story

WHY HINDENBURG???

The Hindenburg Disaster at Lakehurst Naval Air Station May 6th, 1937, was coincidentally a seminal moment in the history of radio. Herbert Morrison, reporting for WLS in Chicago, recorded the first ever radio eyewitness report in the field to be broadcast, and also the first coast-to-coast radio broadcast. His commentary is particularly remembered for his plaintive words, “Oh, the humanity!”, which summed up his horror at the unexpected disaster unfolding before him. Mobile reporting was born!

Inspired by the possibilities for global communication and understanding that this event signals, we at Hindenburg Systems found it fitting to pay homage to the world-changing event that accompanied the Hindenburg Disaster.

OUR MISSION

To let audio storytellers concentrate on their story while our solutions ensure the highest audio quality.

OUR STRATEGY

To create functional, portable and intuitive audio production tools for story-telling with ground-breaking, automated engineering features and simple, user-friendly interfaces.
Now anyone with a great story can have a great voice!

OUR STORY

Hindenburg Systems is a Danish Software house focused on providing innovative solutions for radio production.

The idea for Hindenburg Systems was born on a porch in Lusaka, Zambia.

In fact, the company was originally named Nsaka, after the traditional Zambian community hut in the village where everyone gathers to discuss and tell stories.

The impetus was that the founders were looking for a simple, intuitive, reliable and affordable editing tool a rural community radio station. But there was no solution to be found….

From the beginning the Hindenburg Journalist series has been developed in close collaboration with professional users, to ensure that our tools are designed for the needs of audio storytellers – today and in the digital future.

Hindenburg is at the forefront of radio development. As radio broadcasting spreads more to digital and mobile platforms, modern production tools must be able to embed and broadcast rich media, support citizen journalism and full interaction from portable devices

One of our core goals is to make tools available to community-driven initiatives and media development programs at no or low costs. We have developed Hindenburg NGO as a free version of our editor for grass-roots media initiatives in developing nations. We also offer discounts on our full range to NGO’s working to promote media development. We are always looking for projects to support with our software and expertise. Please contact us for details.

“Hindenburg has proven to be a valuable and affordable solution for teaching audio storytelling here in Liberia as part of the Together Liberia media training project.” – Ken Harper, Together Liberia
